The overall goal of the Welcoming and Inviting ministry is to be the human touch of God’s love for others who come to our church and to invite the community to join us on our faith journey. Their efforts include recruiting greeters for worship services and volunteers for Fellowship Hour; raising awareness of FUMC; and coordinating telephone follow-up to visitors. Membership Secretary Claire Bartleson works with this ministry, as does lead pastor Barrie Tritle.
Welcoming and Inviting
Following each Worship Sevice, a time of refreshment and fellowship is held in the Gathering Space and Upper Room. Members of this Group are responsible for serving those who attend this important time of community building and sharing.
Putting a human face on our welcoming ministries, Greeters, located at all the entries of the church, welcome all who are attending worship. In addition, Greeters serve to assist newcomers with the making of a name tag, as well as helping them to find Sunday School classrooms or other areas in the church.
This class is open to anyone interested in becoming a member of FUMC. It is designed to assist folks with a deeper understanding about the United Methodist Church, our membership vows, and ways to become more engaged in the ministries of our congregation. The New Member Class is offered quarterly through the year.
This group helps the church staff to create and update our presence on the World Wide Web through our Web and Facebook pages.
All newcomers and guests are invited to the Welcome Center, located in the church’s Narthex. Here they receive a free gift and information about the life and ministries of our church. Members of this Group are responsible for staffing the Welcome Center as well as assembling the information to be distributed to our guests.
